Rewatch. Fisher and Hammer's finest moment. A Freudian fairytale with dashes of Coleridge, Wagner, Aeschylus. The siren song of the dark ladie luring to doom matched to self-calcifying patriarchy in a specific proto-fascist context. Subtle, eerie, intense, superlatively acted.

Rewatch. A well-known, much-appreciated movie, sure, but one I think still needs more respect - an absolute masterclass in whisper-to-a-scream storytelling, weaving threads of character, atmosphere, and mystery until hell breaks loose, sardonic social comment under all.
