I'm in a unique position here, because after #LetterboxdFriday I have a new #LastFourWatched thanks to a quadruple bill on October 31st.

It's #LetterboxdFriday and that means it's time for a #LastFourWatched.
Amidst Halloween viewings, one of these films is not like the other.

It's been a good time watching movies lately. #LastFourWatched #Letterboxd

A cinema trip tonight to watch THE FLY. An opportunity to scratch off another square, to experience this grotesque masterpiece on the big-screen, and to see the most heartbreaking tale which has a severed cock in a jar.

I didn't know which version of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS this square meant, so I watched both the 1956 and 1978 versions before scratching it off.
The '56 film is great, unsettling in its own right, but the '78 film is a terrifying masterpiece. A great way to spend a day.

Another square scratched off, and I watched KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE. I enjoyed the commitment to the bit and had fun with the zany tone, but it did wear thin on me and left the film outstaying its welcome.

2025 has been a fantastic year for horror, given us outstanding genre entries that highlight the many unique voices propelling horror forward.

On an unrelated note, THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 2 is rubbish. A middle chapter of a trilogy that is a frustratingly elongated and tiresome chase. Boar-ing!

Turned my evening into a Stephen King double-bill by rewatching THE SHINING (as part of my Hooptober challenge).
It remains as creepy and unsettling as ever, but I also want a number for Dick Halloran's interior decorator.

It's hard to top the chalk outline in the water.

Don't sleep on TOGETHER when it opens. An extremely funny and sticky slice of horror that takes a literal approach to a couple's codependency issues. Come for the unsettling practical effects, stay for the deftly delivered relationship drama, and be ready to recommend it to others.

It's #LetterboxdFriday time, and this is a largely unfortunate #LastFourWatched.

One season down of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and it certainly lives up to the name.

Absolutely excellent series. I preferred Battle Tendency to Phantom Blood (mainly because of the better lead in Jonathan Joestar), but Dio was a stronger antagonist.

Next series is a beloved one, so I'm hyped.

Finally done this, and selected the most Me choices that I could have.

Well, time to change my plans for next weekend.

As a fan of the series, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - THE FINAL RECKONING disappointed me. There remain great stunts and mostly engaging characters, but it is messy and overstuffed, as the film becomes a clip show with great actors doing very little. There's a stronger, tighter film within this behemoth.

It's been a bit since I did one of these, but with it being #LetterboxdFriday, here is my odd mixture of a #LastFourWatched.
May 23, 2025 at 8:36 PM
Do you ever have the feeling you're being watched while reverse-parking your car?
May 22, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Tonight, I went to the cinema to watch the rerelease of 28 DAYS LATER. It felt odd to see the guerilla style footage on a massive screen, but it added to the intensity of this unsettling yet hopeful work. Plus, for the first time in a while, I got to scratch off a square on my poster.

As it was a hot day, I ventured to an air-conditioned cinema to watch WARFARE. The sound design is impeccable, while the direction from Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza is tense stuff. Script-wise, I was left rather cold by the development-free figures played by the indie twinks.

FINAL DESTINATION BLOODLINES is an absolute cinematic treat. A welcome return to the series that honours the past, delivers what you know, and subverts expectations with a darkly comedic tone. Hilarious to watch, EXCELLENT kills which holds very little back. Prepare to go nuts for this one.

No matter how many times I see it, it always gives me a thrill to see my reviews given space alongside such exceptional publications.

The Sun is also there.

SINNERS is absolutely incredible filmmaking. Ryan Coogler phenomenally paints a rich world populated by exquisitely drawn characters, before unleashing the bloodsucking carnage through grisly action. An exploration of black music through a vampiric lens, aided by downright exquisite performances.
