Note all the little craters. And that's the SMOOTH area of the moon. How is a skyscraper like Starship HLS supposed to land and remain upright? Apollo Lunar Module had automatic landing too. Armstrong had to take over from the computer because it was about to set them down in a field of boulders.

Among the most idiotic things about Starship HLS is the colossal amount of wasted crew cabin volume. Their crew cabin doesn't carry any more astronauts than shuttle.

Starship HLS interior renders are stupid fantasies. No shock absorbers on the seats. Pilots can't see out because the screens block the windows. No handrails for getting around the crew cabin in zero-g. Typical SpaceX style over substance.

@genejm1017.bsky.social @dsfpspacefl1ght.bsky.social @antidr.bsky.social @lorengrush.bsky.social The shuttle's aluminum-lithium superlightweight (yes, that's the official name) external tank weighed only 58,500 lbs. There is plenty of NASA research that SpaceX is not even using.

SpaceX thinks they can reinvent the wheel. They never study the past.

You're obviously not a pilot. Pilots needs windows, especially in VTOL vehicles, not a stupid scheme based around screens that can suddenly fail. (Design by Philip Bono, Douglas Aircraft)

Another example of why Starship HLS design is dangerous and stupid. Astronauts need the visibility to manually land a lunar lander in an emergency, not just a stupid scheme only using screens. (Design by Philip Bono, Douglas Aircraft).

1952. Von Braun design. Same height as Starship HLS. Sensible landing gear design. Starship HLS has absurdly narrow landing gear and ridiculously small landing gear pads.
