100 years ago today: The King County Sheriff was paid $3,000/year. There was a proposal to increase it to $5,000/year. (from The Seattle Star, Nov 20, 1925)

$5,000 in 1925 is equivalent to $92,800 in 2025.

The current King County Sheriff makes $281,891 (as of 2023).

Higher Salary Is Sought for Sheriff King county's next sheriff will receive $5,000 a year instead of $3000 as at present, if a bill being pushed by Undersheriff Archie Hutcheson s passed by the legistature. Hutcheson obtained support of the state sheriffs’ association this week to a measure which would increase all county sheriffs' salaries.
