I think internal waves should be investigated, I have no idea how is the stratification at the time but it would be worth looking at the internal wave dispersion relation and see if this matches the scales :)

sorry I did not answer this, but the answer is yes, it is amaizing how they can reproduce eddies, Randall Leveque, the creator of GeoClaw has great simulations with that

It is a one-slab source based on the USGS parameters. Following typical examples from GeoClaw, one could find the geometry (400x100km). Still waiting for more information to update the solution.

I think it is quite long, 400km x 100km, it is just the fast one-slab solution, we do not have a solution from USGS yet, standing by but will update soon :)
