Estimates put the losses from these fires at potentially $150 billion. That's more than all natural disasters last year combined. We're only one week into 2025. There may not be functioning home insurance markets in many states by next year.
Insured losses from natural disasters topped $140 billion in 2024, up from $106 billion in 2023, reports Munich Re, the world's largest insurer.
