Very sorry to hear that Clive Barlow has passed away - a passionate birder and conservationist in The Gambia. One of his last publications will be our short note, together with Alhajie Saho Sarr, on foraging behaviour of storm-petrels, just published in British Birds.

Storm petrels showing well in central Bath this afternoon. Don’t even think about parking - sensibly or otherwise.

So sad to hear that Jane Goodall has passed away - a life well lived in promoting the understanding and conservation of our fellow inhabitants of our one wild and precious planet.

Storm petrels showing well in Edinburgh this afternoon. Please park sensibly outside Topping’s bookshop. Will be searched for by Dawn, who works in the non-fiction section.

Very informative village notice board, explaining that the fondue was invented in Nantycaws in the year 1280, when Llywellyn, the last prince of Wales accidentally dropped some croutons when crossing the stream, and had to retrieve them using his sword. #WelshHistory #HanesCymraig

Very excited to visit the west Wales village of Nantycaws this afternoon (the name can arguably be translated as “stream [of] the cheese”), and was delighted to discover that the name of the village chapel (established in 1809) is “Philadelphia”.

Spent a very interesting morning with National Trust staff, police and local community members, discussing the challenges of managing the impacts of recreational activities on coastal wildlife. Popped down to the cliffs after the meeting to see various real-life examples!
