If the Alberta govt doesn't uphold the Polluter Pays Principle, and make O&G companies pay what they owe, then these cleanup costs will fall on the backs of taxpayers and our already struggling/underfunded public services (or cleanup never happens). We need to make polluters pay. #ABLeg #ABPoli
Did you know that there are nearly 365K oil & gas wells in Alberta that eventually require cleanup? Estimated cleanup costs range from $60 billion-$130 billion. But our govt currently holds <1% of the funds needed for cleanup, despite companies posting $150B in profits from 2021-2024. #ABLeg #ABPoli
