Any chance that Trump gloating prematurely could still scuttle this? There’s another vote tomorrow right?

You can’t shame the shameless

He’s obviously tired of all this winning
November 10, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Eh… fine. You don’t have to be a diphthong about it.

Mamdani is going to implement schwa law. Everyone will be required to walk around making a lazy guttural noise and write the letter “e” upside down.

Thanks. Good story. I want good street food and opportunities for folks serving it. But I also agree with this point made in the story. If you know someone who had to deal with this, perhaps you can understand why it’s not black and white in any sense.

I totally support that, but I'm not sure whether it's the case. If it is, good. I'd just ask you to consider that not everyone who disagrees with you is coming from a position of lesser virtue. Often permitting is for elitist gatekeeping, but food safety is one gate that should be kept.

Obviously we can’t actually know unless the place has been inspected, same as any establishment. If we agree to look the other way on permitting for reasons of equity, which isn’t unreasonable in most situations, we may be creating more serious problems for the public. I’m not ok with that. YMMV
November 8, 2025 at 6:23 PM
Because public safety is important and I know someone who suffered permanent damage from food poisoning at a restaurant with code violations. If our codes are too strict, then we should change them. Otherwise everyone, rich or poor, should be held accountable.

Either enforce the law or change the law. Not great to ignore the law.

It was clear he needed a break but this isn’t what I had in mind. Ugh… hope Murray and/or Grubauer can relive their glory days
November 8, 2025 at 4:49 PM
Considering all the evil shit they’d be up to if they were on the job, I’m actually ok with it

Frequently one of my starting words. Not today though. 🤷

My proudest moment as a journalist is that an interview I did with an AI company founder is frequently cited in class action suits against the industry. Every little bit helps!

We could probably make life a little easier for
Marie in the 3rd. But yeah, unless you attach part of Capitol Hill to Wenatchee, I think we're stuck with our 2 wingnuts. At least Newhouse has shown a shred of backbone now and then.

That’s just sub standard punning right there.
November 6, 2025 at 9:02 PM
I think juries resent bad faith actors wasting their time. They are there to do a serious job. This shit is just insulting to the whole notion of what they are being asked to do as citizens.
November 6, 2025 at 9:00 PM
That's funny... "pundit" is a Hindi word originally, borrowed into English via British colonists. I think it raises those associations with some native speakers as well.

Nothing helps progressives more than having these clowns arguing against them.
November 6, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Oof. Joey needed a night off.

Bring the best team on the ice for all but 30 seconds of the period doesn’t matter much when they get two wide open shots in those 30 seconds. Yeesh…

I hear the opera adaptation is especially honorable
