This could be a tsunami of dread for people who are hungry in our country. If there ever was a time when you thought about pitching in to help others less fortunate, now would be it!

“Love one another”-is a core tenet of Christianity, and virtually every religion on the planet. Yet I often misinterpret as, “Love one another, as long as they:
-agree with you
-share your values
-are from your country
-are close family/friends.

God didn’t qualify, maybe I shouldn’t either

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms of the world. Thinking especially today about mom’s who have to struggle to provide their children the happy lives to which we all aspire, such as those impacted by poverty, and those who have to emigrate to give their babies a chance to survive.

I can’t recommend Court of Gold on @netflix.com enough. It’s fantastic!! Not just a love fest for Lebron, Steph and KD (though deservedly some of that) but also great coverage of Serbia, France and Canada’s quest for Gold. Excellent..must watch for any @nba.com and basketball fan. #CourtofGold

Interesting how much/most of the anti-DEI efforts have been focused on diminishing the accomplishments or reducing the impact of black people. Hmmm. Wonder why that is? www.newsweek.com/jackie-robin...

A good first step. Now remove preferential admissions for legacies, capacity of parents to donate, pipelines from elite prep schools, and all the other well-known ways to admit privileged children. THEN we can have a real level playing field.
Harvard will offer free tuition for students whose families earn $200,000 and below, the university said on Monday, becoming the latest elite school to expand financial aid after the Supreme Court banned the use of racial preferences in college admissions. nyti.ms/3FKOcPz

“When you can’t change the world, change how you experience it instead” Wise words in these times from Arthur C Brooks. #happiness

There’s talent, and then there’s jaw-dropping, goose-bump inducing, “what did I just experience?” talent like what I just saw at Oscar opening. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo…Wow!!! #Oscars2025

To many, meritocracy is like the NBA in the 50’s. The myth was only the best players made it. Reality was many talented players weren’t even allowed to compete. Until institutional barriers and privilege are removed, the only meritocracy you have is within the limited players who are allowed to play

This is awesome! I have fond memories of the NBA 1-on-1 games from the 70’s that would show during halftime of games when I was a kid. Would be cool to bring this back as a tournament, like Unrivaled. Congrats ladies (especially Napheesa)… smart and very well done.

In any organization, there are the top 10-20% of the work force who are extraordinary and really make the place work. I suspect gov’t is no different. If you are one of those leaders in FDA, FBI, etc…why in the world would you stay? THAT is what we should worry about.

Kudos #Lakers! Mark Williams is the best player you’ve never heard of.. playing in NBA Siberia that is Charlotte. Perfect fit for Luka if he can stay healthy. Amazing how this team has been reinvented. Younger, with improved chances this year and for the next decade.

Happy Anniversary to the best in the business! @luketimmerman.bsky.social provides objective, insightful and comprehensive storytelling in his own inimitable way. An amazing journalist, who I am proud to call a friend. Also, one of the most caring individuals I’ve ever met. Congrats Luke!

I remember watching the TV series “Holocaust” when I was a kid. I was obsessed with the question “how could good people in Germany let that happen” I am similarly obsessed now with a similar question..”how much damage to others can we tolerate as long as it doesn’t impact us. #compassion

Remember…the same anti DEI crowd that called 4-star general, former head of CENTCOM, Comm. of US forces in Iraq, etc., Lloyd Austin, a “DEI choice”, now support Fox News’ Hegseth as Sec Def. Don’t ever fall for the “it’s about merit” scam. It is today and has always been about preserving privilege

The unquenchable desire to find blame when tragedy strikes has always been remarkable to me. Don’t know if it’s an American or a human phenomena. Wouldn’t it be great if the same energy went into finding ways to help? #LAFires
