We mostly use P.knowlesi which is a zoonotic malaria parasite that naturally infects macaques and people in SE Asia - growing this in the lab in human red blood cells. We use genome editing and microscopy to study cool processes like this - which ~shows Pk using a portal gun to invade a red cell!
