This is exactly the case for me. It’s both the requirement for me to always carry something and the implication that anyone with any modicum of power could then demand it (I.e you can’t use this service unless you do). That would be a major change and very open to abuse.

Congratulations! Great to also see such a well thought out policy. Some things wouldn’t translate well for institutions in UK but lots of examples of really good practice to emulate.

But it’s not day to day spending so it isn’t from the same pot. It also has less effect on credit rating as it is an asset purchase. I think the OBR or IFS actually had a piece on this in response to Corbyn’s manifesto. I just tried to look for it but must have been on my deleted twitter!

The purchase cost associated with nationalisation becomes almost irrelevant. As long as market rate is paid, money is spent but government now has an asset that is directly equivalent in value (assuming we continue to need water). The only important question is whether it will be run better.
