Are you publicly calling for Schumer to go? If not, it's hard to trust that you truly are ready to fight back, that you aren't just playing a choreographed role. I understand damage control, protecting the party if it was a given that there would be 8 "yes" votes. But it's time to play hardball.

I understand it's necessary to work through the legal process.

But at what point can we hope to see consequences for any of the people who have already spent weeks tormenting detainees, sometimes in defiance of various rulings?

They are sneering at existing laws. They will laugh at court orders.

Call me a cynic, but I have no faith at all that ARC will actually refrain from selling your data just because they said they wouldn't.

WTF. Lately, Teen Vogue showed up as an example of what journalism *should* be. This is such a blatant, unapologetic reversal of that... gutting a publication that made a point of building excellence out of the everyday. It's sickening.

Interestingly, not only military members but also ICE agents swear an oath to uphold the constitution, as I understand it.

Specific wording isn't the important part, though. What's important is short, clear, visible and repeated messaging.

Sorry for flogging a pet project, but I'd urge anyone in DC (Chicago, Portland, etc) to post signs like this, visibly and repeatedly, IF you feel safe doing so.

Why? B/c humans internalize & remember what we see repeatedly.

Letter-size PDFs at docs.google.com/spreadsheets..., or make your own.

Even in many white families, uncle/aunt are also used loosely for very close family friends of parents. The idea of colloquial vs "technically accurate" family structure is nothing new to these fools. I guess pretending "how YOU do it is lying" efficiently combines performative anger and racism 😖

We must stop acting like "I am a person, I deserve to exist with dignity" and "Your very existence is an affront, and your rights should be stripped" are somehow equally valid ideas.

Also can we please be done with this absolute bullshit philosophy of "look, a chance to model inclusion by including bigots, which will surely teach them that inclusion is good and bigotry is bad"?

Baloney. Religion does not (should not) mean you can opt out of being taught that certain people or events exist. You can *believe* that homosexuality is wrong, or war is wrong, or eating meat is wrong. But don't ask schools to let your kids opt out of learning these things exist in society. FFS.

What the absolute fuck. My absentee ballot is already on its way back in, but this is sickening on lots of levels. I don't want someone who says this shit becoming attorney general. I also don't want conservatives to win the races for atty general and governor, and this makes it much more likely.

Worth noting: ICE agents also swear an oath to the Constitution.

If you're somewhere ICE is active, *and you feel safe doing so*, please consider printing and posting these or similar signs. We remember what we hear and see.

Will it make a difference? I don't know.

But if someone out there wants to try, hopefully this at least makes it simpler. That's something small I *can* do, even though I'm not there in person with a roll of tape and some thumb tacks.

Or if you're (understandably!) leery of clicking links from people online, make up whatever you want to say. Print out a bunch. Stick them on sign posts, light poles, wherever.

Replace them when they get torn down.

These are basic examples. (As you see, I'm not a graphic designer by any stretch!)

I have b/w and color versions in PDF at drive.google.com/drive/folder..., with a list and links docs.google.com/spreadsheets.... They should print on an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet. (cont'd)
