I admit I haven't followed the procedural ins and outs of how this all ends, but I think the next step is a House vote, yes?

I'm definitely going to be calling my rep and telling him what I think.

Bitterly disappointed in @kaine.senate.gov - negotiation only works when the other party is acting in good faith. You just caved to bullies, and that means they know you'll do it again.

I don't envy your position. But I won't be voting for you in the next primary, either.

Real great look for #CondeNast. They're just making spectacular decisions all over lately.
New: Conde Nast fired four employees who were among a group that confronted the company's head of human resources on Wednesday over the decision to fold Teen Vogue into Vogue/recent cuts. Employees who were fired included journalists from the New Yorker, Wired, and Bon Appétit.

i really resent the continued assertion that there’s so much anger on both sides, as if the causes of the anger are equally legitimate. we’re angry because masked maniacs are violently snatching our family and neighbors off the street, and they’re angry because we’re calling them out for it.

Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, General Gronewold says if they are federalized, that he will advise the Title 10 commander to utilize National Guard Troops to PROTECT protesters at ICE facilities. This is the right answer.

My god. What the hell is wrong with people?

And why was this not brought to light *before* this guy was offered any real power, much less before it had a chance to torpedo a key election?

It's a lot easier to understand what I'm trying to say when I talk about the second amendment if you imagine that I want the second amendment to be about as strong as the current court makes the fourth, and I want the fourth amendment to be about as strong as we make the second.

I cannot emphasize enough that this administration shouldn’t get 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘦 from the Dems until they start obeying the law.

Not. One.

Optics matter: if you want people to turn out next election despite troops in the streets, then show them it matters.

Do your goddamn jobs and hold the line.

A continuation of an earlier project - I'd urge anyone (who feels safe doing so) in DC, Chicago, Portland, Memphis, anywhere troops are being domestically deployed, to put up basic signs reiterating that our armed services swear an oath to the *constitution.*

The Trump administration is rapidly morphing into fascism. I don't say that lightly.

I'm antifascist. I'm also anti-cruelty, anti-corruption, and pretty fucking fed up with hypocrisy and flat-out lies, and with people who make excuses for all this.
Please, if you have the privilege of not being an obvious and immediate target for state violence...

Call them fascists, loudly, ESPECIALLY right now.

Call yourself an antifascist, loudly, ESPECIALLY right now.

We all need to be Spartacus on this one.

They keep calling it DHS law enforcement, but this is your reminder that picking up people on the street with no evidence as to their status is not enforcing any law.

It is terrorizing people.

Much of the cardboard and paper goods strewn about our homes are sold by a single private company, with its name, Uline, stamped on the bottom.

Many may not know that a multibillion-dollar fortune made on those ubiquitous products fuels far-right candidates across the country.

That Cardboard Box in Your Home Is Fueling Election Denial
A previously unreported boom in profits for the shipping supply giant Uline has provided the funds for a deeply conservative Midwestern family to bankroll anti-democracy causes around the country.

Megan and I sometimes get fries from the local chipwagon as a treat, as-is or as part of fish & chips.

I'm always kind of disappointed by the fries (and it's not the place, we've tried several places). Apparently I don't really like fries anymore, but my brain hasn't yet accepted this as fact. Bah.

I'm heartbroken to hear of the Annunciation shooting. School is somewhere children should be safe.

And I'm also scared of how this will be further weaponized, since there are reports that the shooter may have been trans.
August 27, 2025 at 11:07 PM
Let's be clear about a couple things.

Anti-trans policies are awful and dehumanizing for trans people in general (duh).

But also: (thread)
EHRC now saying that not only should trans people be excluded from sex segregated spaces, but ALSO those matching birth sex:

“A legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from … service for their own biological sex …to prevent alarm or distress for other service users.”

Megan and I, without consulting w/each other, each thought "I'll get ingredients to cook something (out of the ordinary) this week."

Now there's LOTS of ratatouille cooking, pesto pasta in the fridge, & peaches to be blanched/frozen. So far haven't killed each other over kitchen time at least... !

If you are killing "their" children as a retributive measure (by bombs, by starvation, by anything), then you're wrong.

I don't care *what* they did first. It's possible they also did something wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that what you're doing is horrifically wrong. Full stop.
