Major news—two terrible parts of the big beautiful bill were kicked out by the Senate Parliamentarian.

Congress will not be able to limit a federal court’s contempt powers.

Spread the word and keep speaking up. Tell your Senators to reject the bill.

Yes. Stephen Miller literally overrode the Secretary of Agriculture on worksite raids. She convinced Trump to back her, he publicly announced a new policy, and Miller got that entire thing overturned in a matter of days and made Trump publicly back his vision instead.
As I have argued for months: The person calling the shots in this admin was never Musk or Bannon or Susie Wiles. It's always been Shadow President Stephen Miller. Anything Trump says on e.g. immigration is cheap talk; Miller is the decider.

Stephen Miller’s Fingerprints Are on Everything in Trump’s Second Term
The president ’s deputy chief of staff has played an outsize role in immigration—and amassed more power than almost anyone else at the White House.

As Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill moves to the Senate, we must make it clear: There is nothing “beautiful” about giving huge tax breaks to billionaires while cutting health care, nutrition and education for working families.

It is grossly immoral and, together, we must defeat it.

This is a really excellent overview of the GOP's recent budget proposal bill with compelling visuals that show us the current administration's economic vision for the US: "You pay more for less."

Republicans want you to pay more for less
Donald Trump's policies are punishing the poor, rewarding the rich, inflating prices, and shrinking revenues. And for what?

Trump's lawyers "appear to be obeying Stephen Miller and not the Supreme Court,” says Chris Newman, an attorney for the Abrego Garcia family. “Miller himself should be deposed under oath in federal court to determine his role in this ongoing affront to due process.”
Stephen Miller is slowly creating a vast, unaccountable removal authority for the president. He thinks he can sell unchecked power as crucial for public safety. But Trump accidentally exposed this project for what it is: Lawless, arbitrary, dictatorial.

How Trump Accidentally Sabotaged His Own Case Against Abrego Garcia
Trump has now admitted twice that he could bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home, but says his lawyers are telling him not to. This was a very dumb move—and also a very revealing one.

The media needs to call this what it is:

This is a techno-oligarchic hostile takeover of the federal machinery of the United States of America.

This is not governing. It is lawless. It is not based on principles of electoral representation.

This is a criminal takeover of the federal government.

This doesn’t create the “appearance” of corruption or set up the “potential” for conflict of interest. It is corruption, and it’s a standing conflict of interest. Patently, and historically.
Trump Just Did the Most Corrupt Thing Any President Has Ever Done
He’s using the White House to get rich from anonymous investors—and it’s hardly even a news story.
