Lots of rhubarb picked before the heat of the day arrived, giving younger rhubarb time to grow before summer's temperatures burn the foliage, hopefully sugarcane mulch helps with water retention

The rhubarb seems to grow faster after every picking since early August (as our winter got warmer)

My first successful overwintering of a Capsicum chinense plant (Chocolate Bih Jolokia)has taken to the spring heat with new foliage, hopefully the transplant goes well as temperatures rise to 35C/95F

Fruit trees in flower, unfortunately no bees anywhere for the second spring in a row
The varroa mite is having a terrible affect on the honey bee population

Not the prettiest potatoes after a very wet winter, fortunately the potato scab is only superficial and won't stop them being baked or made into chips 😋🥔🍟

Some of the ginger harvested today as soils finally dried enough
At nearly $30 a kilo at the supermarket, my neighbours were happy to receive a few chunks
If only I had as much success growing garlic as I do with ginger and Chilli peppers 😋

Somehow, this Serrano plant has produced 2 ripe pods during our winter
It's not in full sun like a couple of other pepper plants, and we've had a lot of rain recently
Hopefully come spring in September it'll perk up with fertilizer and warmth 🌶️🌱

Tabasco pods from the season 2023/24 that have been sitting in the freezer
Once thawed and dried I'll blend them with malt vinegar and salt, then used to spice up soups and slow cooker meals 🌱🌶️

It's midwinter here yet the Serrano plant has 2 pods, a sweet pepper plant is flowering, I have new shoots on 2 capsicum annum peppers, plus the Bih Jolokia plant I brought inside for protection is still going ok.
Despite freezing nights, our days are warm enough to keep them from going dormant 🌱🌶️

Midwinter harvest of Turmeric drying out in the sun after washing off the potting mix
I'm not sure if the white Rhizomes are as edible as the golden ones or they're just for starting a new crop #gardeningAU 🌱
