I always tell Europeans that the U.S. is the best at everything. We are the best at being awesome.

And we are the best at being nightmarishly awful.

Crimes "Commission" ain't gonna cut it. We're going to need an entire crimes *Department.*

On the bright side, we can bring unemployment down to zero by staffing it.

New rule for interviewees: You can say the name of your interviewer a maximum of three times.
SEN. KELLY : “They informed me of this in a tweet because this is not about the law. This is about the media cycle, and intimidation… We basically repeated the uniform code of military justice, and they're saying that's in violation of it. It's absurd. Comical.”

Banged my head on one chapter for two days this week and *mostly* pushed through the way I want it.

Time for a day off of thinking and just brute physical stuff. Who needs a chord of wood split?

So, my workout videos this week were the 2012 Amazing Spiderman movies with Andrew Garfield which I'd never seen and Spiderman was my favorite superhero as a kid and minutes ago I finished the second movie in which his girlfriend, Gwen (Emma Stone), DIES and I'm going to need a moment.

400 words written and I want my goddamn prize.
We need a new Nobel Prize for Americans who manage to get *anything* done on days like this.

Pro-tip for foodies: this stuff will change your life. Put it on stir fry, rice dishes, eat it with a spoon or just a funnel.

You will thank me.

Seems to me if the House can vote 427-1 and the Senate can vote 99-0 on the release of the Epstein files when Shit For Brains threatened them not to, then they can also impeach *and convict* him, and bring this stage of our national nightmare to an abrupt end.
When a President calls for the death of lawmakers protecting the oath military members take to the Constitution (NOT the President), you are watching a full-blown Constitutional Crisis. This is the ultimate test of our democracy. We cannot look away.

He's threatening death to Dem lawmakers now.

The massive protest in D.C. on Saturday needs to call for impeachment & conviction. Before this week, I would have said not to waste your time calling for this. But the response by Congress to massive public pressure makes me wonder.

All hands on deck!

As our attention is on the (underage) victims of rape & sex trafficking, my mind is also on the victims and survivors of decades of identical horrors (including murder) in *government and church* run boarding and residential schools.

Never forget them.

Had a great time at Rain Taxi, the great Minnesota Book Fair! What a wonderful collection of creative, thoughtful, and fun people. If you haven't gone to a book fair, I highly recommend it - especially with Christmas around the corner!

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

Now get the goon who assaulted two protesters with pepper spray.
An ICE employee was among 16 men arrested after trying to solicit a minor for sex in Bloomington, Minnesota, police say

"When he was arrested, he said, 'I'm ICE, boys,'" Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said during a press conference. "Well, unfortunately for him, we locked him up."

I don't know who needs to hear...wait. EVERYBODY needs to hear this: If Russia helped him during the 2016 and 2024 elections and used Epstein kompromat on him then EVERYTHING HE HAS DONE IS ILLEGITIMATE, INCLUDING HIS SCOTUS PICKS.

(PS: Why did Epstein help Kavanaugh through confirmation?)

There is a big f*ckin protest in D.C. taking place on Saturday, headlined by Dropkick Murphys. Everyone with a day's drive of the Capital should go. Forecast looks wet early in the day, then clearing up.

This needs to break records.

The Winnipeg Police Chief shared words of healing at Louis Riel's ceremony. I thanked him afterwards, mentioned I was a 1st-Responder. He gave me a Promise Coin, often given 2 military/service groups as marks of distinction, honor & team spirit.

It will join other objects of importance on my desk.

Attended the 140th commemoration of the killing of Louis Riel by the Canadian government, and not only was Wab Kinew there, addressing the group in *three* languages, but Prime Minister Mark Carney showed up & spoke in a tremendously symbolic gesture of reconciliation.
