Yep. I now understand how German politicians gave Hitler unlimited power. They knew what he was. But at every step cooperating was in their interest. Then, too late to resist. Good prevailed only after Hitler murdered millions and other countries reduced Germany to rubble. Hopefully not our fate.

American dams do planned releases too. But in the West there is not enough water, so nobody is happy. Environmentalists (like me) think not enough water is released; farmers and electricity generators think too much is. Japan must have the same tensions. I bet you manage them better. 😊

Natto and sea urchin are about the only two Japanese foods I don't like! I'm usually up for even the unusual ones. When we visited Osaka, my favorite was little roasted octopuses stuffed with quail eggs. 🐙🥚 Couldn't get enough!
