My department and my colleagues both nursing and medical have been nothing but supportive. However the 'system' let me down. At no point did I receive acknowledgement of myself or the event (mentioned in national news) from any member of senior management, no support from legal services.

This week I was informed that the Crown Prosecution Service had made a 'very difficult decision' to no longer pursue conviction on my charge of 'Assault on an Emergency Worker'. Though King will remain as charged and it will 'lie on file', the sentence handed down in August being sufficient.

Amongst a number of charges against the patient, mine was 'severed' by the defence as a separate event. After being on standby in April this year, it was again adjourned until November. In August, Jason King stood trial and was sentenced for the other offences.
