For #RandomGameSaturday this week here is The Bard's Tale. I played this for many hours on my Amiga 2000 although I never finished it, my goal was to create and level up characters. I filled up one character disk and got most of the way through a second one.

I've noticed that the picture of the guide in the manual bears a very strong resemblance to Clockwork Pi's #picoCalc

It's #RandomGameSaturday and this week I've dug Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy out of the loft. Like other Douglas Adams adaptions, this was "the same, but different" to the books (and radio shows). Back in the day I got stumped trying to make a cup of tea on the Heart of Gold.

Time for #RandomGameSaturday and this week it's Neverwinter Nights! Unfortunately I've still never really played it. Each time I installed it I then spent hours tracking down the patches and getting things working which sapped my will to actually play it. I have it on Steam, so maybe this year!

For #RandomGameSaturday here is Super Sunday, which I got for Xmas in 1987 after I'd read the Zzap64 review earlier in the year. It's the only C64 game I've still got, kept it because of the unusual box.

Shiny new eBay account, first purchase: old things 😀

I had the first volume and a few extra issues back in the 80s, been regretting getting rid of them for a while.

This was my Dad's setup in the late 80s, he used to film everything! I was a bit embarrassed by it at the time but now it's nice that I still have some of these recordings to look at (converted to digital, of course)

For #RandomGameSaturday I present Spelunky, a game that was my main route back into PC gaming and Steam in 2014. This is a special edition PS4 version I bought later for the cool box.

Came across these listings while sorting out stuff in the attic this weekend. An exchange between father and son about programming our VIC-20 in 1982 or 3 when I was 11. The letter and program from my Dad are considerably longer than the one I managed to write back!

I love Valkyria Chronicles (4 in this instance) - beautiful art style, fun turn-based combat and insightful commentary on the human condition.

Thanks to @rageretro.bsky.social and @computinghistory.org.uk for organising and hosting the inaugural meeting of the Cambridge Computer Club today. I got to play with a SuperPET and type in a FORTRAN program that worked! (thanks to everyone else doing the Googling)
