Just a quick note: Federalizing the D.C. National Guard is not the same thing as “martial law.” I’m not saying that makes it good, but martial law is when the military *supplants* civil government, not just doing law enforcement. Don’t credit him with more power than he has (because he’ll take it)

Me too. A little younger than the OP, but I remember.
I get very edgy and nervous when the National Guard is called out. I graduated from an Ohio High School in May of 1970. I remember what can happen and if you don't google Kent State University May 1970.
