Every time I see someone saying that vile statements have been taken out of context, I am reminded of an early episode of MASH, where Frank Burns commandeers a bowl of tapioca. “Mmm! Raisins!” he says. “No sir, flies.”

If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:
- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

There are so many reasons why Elon’s “We gotta go to Mars because the sun’s gonna eat the Earth” argument is jaw-droppingly stupid, but I haven’t heard anyone ask him why he thinks Mars would be any safer from the ever-expanding, solar system devouring sun.

The people saying Pete Hegseth should be fired are simultaneously obviously right—like provably, objectively right—and completely wrong. In a normal world, Hegseth would never even have gotten the job that he so royally fucked up, but in the gonzo up-is-down world of the Trump administration?
