Aspiring/perspiring author working on an urban fantasy/crime novel in Brisbane 🇦🇺. Writing, reading, learning. This manuscript thing is harder than you’d think. Easily distracted by shorter stories. Everything I write turns murder-y.

I remember a family visit to Sizzler and being impressed they had the new West Coast Coolers. I think they were the first of the pre-mixed drinks (or one of) and I'm guessing that Sizzler outing would have been 90s. UDL was much later - I had to ask what it was (off the coolers by then).

The tall (750ml ?) bottles were 'tallies' in Qld ('longneck' I think of as an Americanism so perhaps it's just more recent). They were also known as 'north Qld stubbies' - unless I'm making that up.

I don't want to give them the clicks to read the review (I may look for it a different way later). I googled 'Anne Lomas' with 'investigator' or 'fiction' (and variations) and discovered there's a UK YA author, Sally-Anne Lomas. Maybe AI has made a salad from both of you.

Revived, reanimated, restored, resurrected, reinstated, re-populated...

Nup, that's it - I've run out.

I came to the replies looking for 'tmesis', a word I collected from a Dalziel and Pascoe book by Reginald Hill. (I don't remember which one.)

My dog now refuses to go down the less-sheltered back stairs and insists on only going down the front.

Soon the the rain will stop and soon the grass will be mown and then we can resume normal 'wee walks'.

Yes, I do.

Tonight is not one of those nights...

I didn't think it had actually been too bad - but I've just seen that one of the two usual streets is flooded. (So I suppose that means it's only half bad.)
