To clarify: I dropped off the ballot at City Hall, so the city clerk's office had it in its possession the same day, but it still took a week for the receipt.

I voted by mail, but it took about a week to show a notice that said "Your ballot has been received" or something similar. Ideally, we should do it like WA, where they also tell you whether it will/was counted.
