The apples are really so so good. We bought 70-some pounds today — after having bought 50-some pounds a few weeks ago.

The first high-elevation snowfall visible from our living room windows does something to my heart. I’m wrecked for warmer climes.

Did you unexpectedly call me? Was I supposed to unexpectedly call you? If so, I took no further notes and need help.

On the other hand, the local school’s band continues to churn out glorious cups of shaved corn kernels that make my year every dang time.

The most unhinged booth at the Eastern Idaho State Fair was def the Idaho GOP. Super weird and distressing to see the local political apparatus showing up as 1000% crazy online memes.

This weekend my five-year-old and I stayed at a Basque sheep herder wagon just below our local ski hill. It was so magical — sunset, stars, deer, hawks, the smell of sagebrush and a cool breeze that still carries a little snow chill, all with one of my favorite people.

I haven’t updated the masses on Richie lately, but he’s proving to be a champion! He loves kids, tries hard to not anger the cat, and is working on his obedience class lessons. He is uninterested in treats or food, which makes training hard — he’ll politely take his treats and then set them down.

I’m not the moviest person but this was so hard. I stand by all my choices!!

A few of my favorite signs from Pocatello’s estimated 2,000 people attending #NoKings. Someone had a sign that said “Even Idaho Doesn’t Like U”

Every day I’m out here wondering why do I feel so crummy, what’s wrong with me, and then I look around and realize the earth is trying to kill me.

I have been a pit of despair lately but at least I’ve got beans now.

Change of scenery

Did an evening trail run race tonight and it was incredibly hot but also so beautiful. Beginning to run in the mountains has made this place feel like home.

We are the proud family of a new pup — meet Richie. He’s teeny and snuggly and seems delighted to be home.

At public health (maybe get your MMR titers checked, folks?) and this is just exactly perfect.

Got out for two trail runs this week, in anticipation of an upcoming long trail run race that I want to aim for. The sky didn’t disappoint.

Hi all! Wow, so famous right now. I have, for the first time ever, got a bot impersonating me so please help report this account? Many thanks to the folks who alerted me!

One of my most treasured books makes an appearance every year for Easter. I loved it as a kid and as a parent, I have loved it anew for its feminist and anti racist heart.

I don’t understand how it’s possible to have fun feeling fear. Absolutely not. Anxiety says no.

Highs: dodging a thunderstorm to get in a lovely four-mile run, seeing the rare (double!) rainbow in the high desert.

Lows: turning a corner and running into two men with long guns on the paved running path between my kid’s school and the river in the middle of downtown.

The irony of sending emails to the very many WVU administrations about the egregious cuts happening there and getting back an autoreply from the "Transformations Team."

What exactly is being transformed? An institution of higher education into a corporate front?
