Hotels were also fobbing off maintenance to the Home Office a lot of the time, or renting out hotels which were already in serious need of renovation, which inevitably led to examples of people being housed in poorly maintained accommodation

Unironically the time my estate was the nicest was when Blair decided he also loved jail and the two serial muggers/shoplifters/“smackheads” were off the streets for a while. Oh and they redid the shopping precinct and made it less shit (it’s shit again now)
