This is from his time as ambassador in the first term. So it is like 7 years old. Just to confirm context of it.

Why do say you hate to agree with her? What positions does she have that are so abhorrent for you? Isn’t she better than most and the alternative? Maybe show some support and work together without these ridiculous caveats to be effective?

The thinking needs to start somewhere. Might as well start with some actually effective and ambitious objectives.

case of whatabout-ism that will hinder actual response to the situation occurring - pointing out unrelated past events that have nothing to do with the discussion is itself being pedantic. The point being made: there was a time, despite the flaws of those leaders, the world was better off I guess.

But it was about relations between two counties and the fact that people are dying in a war. That the USA is on the wrong side of now it seems. Not a comment about other ills of society that may have been or in fact probably remain or being rolled back.

How do those events compare to the current context?
