honestly so far we're VERY surprised how many organic downloads have happened with just 2 days on the app store

we've already surpassed 100 active users!

Cart Companion is LIVE on Google Play store as of Sunday night!

3.5 weeks from concept to store 🍊
February 25, 2025 at 9:18 PM
I still need to get mock up iPad screenshots, since it looks a lil rough on the store when iPad shows first.
February 25, 2025 at 9:18 PM
wrapped up store images this past weekend and submitted both versions of the app!

so instead I pivoted to a cleaner, condensed list view, allowing each item to be expanded.

items are quick to add, and don't NEED to understand quantity

if you wanted to add a quantity or note, you're still able to quickly, with a simple display
February 25, 2025 at 9:18 PM
a lot already changed!

initially I made quantity a large part of the interface, but honestly that feels like more of an online shopping behavior rather than your personal list.

part 2, since bluesky limits to 60 seconds...
February 25, 2025 at 9:18 PM
(I'm behind on updating bluesky, so blasting this full list breakdown of the past few weeks in a bulk post)

we've made a lot of progress in the past 2 weeks.

here's my 1st night's efforts getting prototyped options together:

I dig it.

leaning even harder into retro here.

also, I'm a sucker for cream colored palettes. I won't be apologizing
January 28, 2025 at 9:13 PM
brand-wise, I've been playing with earthy + warm tones. Green seems obvious for groceries too.

friendly/retro feels more fun than cold/analytical (but maybe that's just my vibes in general)

(huge list of names still, TBD)
January 28, 2025 at 9:13 PM
so far here's our thinking:

Shop Mode 🛒
• I wanna check off items in the order I typically walk through the store
• go to ~1-3 stores, but layout is diff?

List Mode📋
• help me make the list when I'm not shopping
• suggestions vs. auto-fill?
• dynamic share with a s/o?

my 3 year old's go-to quote nowadays: 🫠
January 25, 2025 at 11:51 PM
it's on Android and iOS app stores now, and we'd love feedback from other parents

anything else you'd like to see out of the app?
January 25, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Key concern as a parent:
"it's weird to put kid's info into an app"

so we left it open ended.

- no need to type in names or add real pictures
- add only what you feel comfortable
- assign colors to kids for easy identification
- no creepy data harvesting!
- local storage only!
January 25, 2025 at 11:51 PM
so we threw together a quick, simple app to write things down:

Tiny Moments

if you wanna follow along, I'll be posting more here (and on the bird version of this app)

and of course, we love feedback!
so don't hesitate to reach out or share ❤️

Here’s our small app mindset:
• solve only 1 problem
• 1-2 weeks from idea to submission (complexity + life pending)
• build it in public
• $0 monthly upkeep (when possible)
• add paid-features only after significant user interest
• tiktok ugc + ai marketing

SO. I’m pushing into this year with a sense of change.

🤏 small, simple apps.
(not even monetarily focused! 🫢)
✅ building for exactly the problem we want to solve.
