I didn't know Josh Clover well, but we did get to do a panel together a couple years back. He said sth then that stuck with me, which is that we should resist analogies with the past to understand the present b/c we need to be open to what's radically new about the now...

So is Carney gonna call in any airstrikes on the illegitimate junta ruling the restive former colonial outpost just across his country’s southern border? Surely a few well-placed smart bombs will alleviate the destabilizing threat of cross-border skirmishes and territorial encroachment.
