just finished up the grand gesture chapter and it feels so bittersweet that the first draft of this novel is finally approaching the end!! it's been so terrifying but also liberating publishing draft material every week on ream as I write it—and i can't wait to start in on book 2 😁

It’s not that Norman is ugly, exactly. Truthfully, I have nothing against him physically. I’ve liked plenty of men with dad bods before. And believe me, growing up in the rural South, I know that not everyone has the same access to quality dental care that I had. And… I mean… it’s not his fault that he has a rather unfortunate receding hairline, I suppose. But, like… I’m mentally comparing the man sitting in front of me with the pictures on his Grindr profile and, honey, it’s been a minute and some change since he must have looked like the dreamy college swimmer I thought I was signing up for a date with. And if he is twenty-four like his bio says, then woof, that’s a rough twenty-four. I force a smile as I look up from the plastic rim of my iced coffee and try to ignore the mellow shag tune playing on the café’s speakers. “So… how long have you lived in Fisher Cove?”

Um, sorry.” I blush as I fumble for a flash card. “This is the powerhouse of the cell.” “Oh, come on, that one’s easy.” He sticks his tongue out. “The ribosomes.” My face stretches into a grimace as I look up from the card. “Um… try again?” Adam’s eyes widen. “Seriously? It’s not the ribosomes?” He flops forward, burying his head in his hands and mumbling, “I am so going to fail this exam.”
