Re: your last sentence, I've pondered before that if I want to cohabitate w/ a life companion, I could wait till I'm 50+ & find a divorcee w/ teen+ kids who need a safe, supportive addition to their family, & find a niche that doesn't require me to pay the sex tax to have someone to live with. 😂

God, it's beautiful to hear that. Wrt aceness but also n.divergence/mental illness/abuse, I used to hate that I didn't know how to explain how I got to a better place so others could do it too - but storytelling is the way. You can spin it out over time & understand better yourself in the process. +

Though I'm charmed by the idea, I don't have the experience to fully understand what a QPR would look or feel like, but writing radiodust is letting me explore it along with them, and I'm learning a little more about myself every chapter. And I think that's what seeing yourself in fiction is for.

I'm averse to being the target of romantic interest/colorblind to the distinction between platonic and romantic love. But fiction lets me vicariously enjoy all the experiences w/o being unfair to a real person, such that both the sap AND the angst can be enjoyed, bc I'm not directly involved. +

I stepped back from the romance of the 1 relationship/2 flirtationships I tried bc I ultimately realized, in the first case, that what I wanted/had was a best friend I could cuddle, and in the other, I was only interested in a new experience, and the people didn't deserve to be a curiosity to me. +

I'll do an AotM quote-pick eventually to catalog my Al's /pervasive/ religious trauma as a motive for embracing eldritch occultism, bc after 3 years I'm rabid and could infodump for hours. He didn't just make himself a monster - he stopped existing as a Euclidean being to escape God's dominion.

I want it to HURT when they disagree so much that Al can't stand to be a part of what she's doing, bc in this timeline they've already tasted how good of a team they can be, but their vastly different ideologies were GOING to clash eventually, and under so much pressure neither will want to bend.

I'm excited to write a S1 analog w/ them as increasingly effective joint orators deepening mutual respect. And then the S2 arc where Charlie decides to try capitulating to Heaven instead of continuing to stand up, and drives Al away bc his religious trauma can't abide a fawn response to avoid abuse.
