1997 game dev (tool programmer, gameplay programmer, technical artist, modeler, animator, etc) turned baker
Ended up in a very similar boat with both the PSX and the GBA ones (don’t remember if they’re the same game or not) when trying to play them for research for a HeroQuest-style RTS game - between them, FFs VII & IX, and Chocobo’s Dungeon, FF seems incapable of gripping me beyond the first few parts

So one of the pop culture icons for Christmas is an entity that is depicted at the point in which he *hates* the very thing he symbolizes (which I guess in a roundabout way, may be why he's stuck?)

What mildly grinds my gears about the usage of the Grinch around December is that it's *always* the depictions of him with his sinister smiles, expressing annoyance (in the case of the Illumination muck that gave us "when the guac is extra"), or anything else that was *before he liked Christmas*

I’m at the point where I wouldn’t be opposed to making a full-on DE in Godot, given the archaic nature of GNOME and the not-quite-there nature of COSMIC

Through @commandersterling.bsky.social’s videos, I was able to determine my outlook on the game industry as I tried to find my place in it.

Her public transitioning also exhibited the process of transitioning and being non-binary at a time when a family member of mine was trying to find themselves.

A ninja is all well and good, but what’s more effective than a ninja? A ninja bullet

If I start getting targeted ads while I’m trying to collect nutrients I will NOT be a happy camper

Throwing my own anecdotal experience into the pile on the side of “yes, obviously”

The usage of “kek” is a pretty consistent red flag, I seem to have noticed

Having looked at the engines for making them, the support ain’t great, to the point where Adventure Game Studio requires a Windows VM (not Wine) if you’re not using that specific OS for development

Money as a quantification construct already starts to show its cracks once the things it's meant to quantify lose their tangibility, and completely rips open to reveal the naked avarice hidden beneath once, in a world where there are sufficient resources for everyone, *anyone* has to go without

Sure, nobody should have to perform any particular acts in order to be able to keep a roof over their heads, but the fact will always be that any solution to this that isn't simply just unconditionally, directly, providing the ability *to* keep that roof over their heads will always be a grift

Fairly standard capitalist-conditioned mindset, expecting the infinite from the explicitly finite

Precisely why the characters in The Simpsons never age, despite being indelibly linked to actors who very much do

Has there ever even been a stated reason for why they moved away from that in the first place, given the intentions of the original BotW?
November 16, 2025 at 5:12 AM
It’s why I will never understand the obsession by companies with augmented reality when, due to the only hardware that’s reliably available to utilize it, it almost *always* ends up just being a little “thing” trapped in your screen and not being able to interact with reality in any capacity

Not even going to make the effort to look, but I can guarantee there’s a UE5 game out there hoping to become “the next Balatro” that would’ve inexplicably been 80 GB

Both Unreal and PBR may have been some of the worst things to happen to the industry in terms of storage (among other things)

Moving out from a family household where cereals rarely got more sugary than Frosted Mini Wheats offered a chance to explore what the world had to offer in the world of breakfast products

All I ever buy now is old-fashioned oats and bran flakes

A more personal offense I take to this is the fact that these people don't even have the creative ambition to at least offer the prospect of displaying this cataclysmic resource hog on anything more than a fucking telephone - not even as life-sized holograms, just as "fun" trinkets for our pockets

Was going to say how I don't look forward to the ability to "digitize" our cats, but then I remembered we already have deepfakes

Glad to not have that in my life either, considering they haven't made (for me) a truly timeless game since before the 2010's

Then again, nothing from them has truly stuck with me since the GameCube and GBA, possibly since I never ended up getting another system of my own from them beyond that era

I agree

I agree with this fine fellow

Was concerned that wouldn’t let you click it (thinking about it, the solid triangle may be for easier selectability), but I *think* that should still work as intended?
