Centaurs creep me out and I really don’t like looking at that Lyn, but for my part as a Hater this is turning out pretty cool. The speculative designs are fun, I just don’t want all fanart of the characters to be these from now on 🫣

I wouldn’t say it’s an abandonment of the older games themselves— even this new weirdness calls back to Jugdral lore with the Deadlords, and on the fandom side the most-wanted game is still an FE4 remake— it’s just the way social media makes a moment feel like an eternity IMO.

Of course I forget about the fact that the people who are into largely the same aspects of the series I’m into have not gone anywhere, and who (by their own admission) are hungry for the kind of content I’m mourning before I’ve even birthed it.

This encapsulates the feeling I get with this series every so often, and to add on I think mine also takes on the flavor of “oh no this is all anyone will be talking about forever so now if I draw an older FE character without cat ears no one will care.”

To be clear, I don’t have any problem with furries, it’s just the sort of cheeky, zero-nuance way the label gets applied and talked about that annoys me, if that makes sense? It probably doesn’t. I’d love for folks to chime in and help me articulate (or understand lol) what I’m trying to get at. 😓

This is a Whole Topic but I’ve never been clear as to whether furries are supposed to be a specific subculture or if everything that’s a variation on this literally ancient trope is furries.

I do think part of it has been a long-latent frustration with how the internet has flattened the humanity-old artistic practice of giving humans animal features and vice-versa?

(I hope it’s clear I don’t mean to rain on anyone’s parade… again, prolly just that feeling of vertigo when I have a busy day living real life and then I come back online and get sucker-punched by Events, plus the cognitive dissonance of not being into the developments. )

I think I would be more on board if I thought there was a chance they would do stupid laguz like a pigeon or capybara. If Byleth isn’t an opossum what is even the point.

I just (dig)dug this game out of storage… never played it, not sure where I got it, definitely didn’t realize it was as beloved as it seems to be!
