A THREAD: Remember, it’s ableist to assume that resistance looks the same for everyone. There are countless ways to show up for this movement, and disabled people—especially those dealing with chronic pain or fatigue—may not be in the streets the way you are.

I hope Kendrick Lamar unleashes the Blackest Super Bowl Halftime Show ever in front of Donald Trump, a white supremacist president.

@runquiet.bsky.social 👏🏼 couldn’t have said it better myself.
I don’t know where I’ve been that I was unaware that #Superbowl half time artists perform for “exposure” (i.e. unpaid). They’re not generally hurting for money or exposure. But I find this outrageous. It reinforces this pernicious request that artists of all kinds are so often faced with. #artiswork

I’m thinking of starting a Substack. I’m seeking support in the form of guidance - what’s worked? What hasn’t? I want to indulge in longer formatted writing and no longer want to post my work to Meta platforms.

How I’ve been tending to myself as a gender-expansive person:
1. Hydration. 2. Naps - plushy pillows and warm blankets. 3. Inexpensive whole foods: oatmeal, blueberries, pumpkin seeds. 4. Poetry; Salt by Nayyirah Waheed *I’m barricading my joy like my life depends on it*

Should the new NEA guidelines require artists and/or artwork to take a position that uncritically lionizes the US government and its founding, they might as well rebrand as the National Endowment for Propaganda.

Cultural and arts leaders need to stop acting surprised when trans and gender-expansive artists and workers share their experiences of hostility and isolation—especially in the same spaces these leaders insist they’re “very committed” to DEAI.

Here's a thread about how trans people can approach remaining informed of the news in a way that prioritizes pragmatism, self-care, and building resistance.

It's based on what I'm doing personally. So, fyi, I'm more anxious than usual, but holding up substantially.

Last autumn, I participated in the 6th Annual Curatorial Workshop by the National Coalition Against Censorship. I presented on power, representation, and challenges in glass art. It was affirming to connect with curators, share experiences, and explore acts of resistance against censorship.
Yesterday, NCAC joined over 40 other organizations in condemning the Trump administration's Executive Order targeting transgender, intersex, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming Americans.

NCAC will always stand and fight tooth and nail for those who the government seeks to bully and silence.
