The average score of CFB playoff games in the four-team era was 40-21, and the average score of BCS Championships was 33-18. Probably similar historical scores in FCS, D2, and D3 playoffs too. There is no playoff format that avoids this
Third game in a row heading towards a blowout. We can argue about "deserves", but right now it looks like an expanded field is a dud.
