Shoutout to the Nebraska State Legislative for canceling a meeting with me and two State Senators because they refuse to cover ASL interpreters due to their "ADA policy."

Um... you forgot about Title II of the ADA which is a federal law?

You're playing with the wrong one.

Huge thank you to Omaha Performing Arts for the invitation to see Hamilton last night! It was my first time ever seeing the show and I enjoyed it!

ASL interpreters were acquired. There will be an ASL day of sorts where they will have interpreters already for the 2pm show this Saturday.

“The same time they’re contemplating on what they’re gonna use as a sound system is the same time they need to be calling agencies and getting an ASL interpreter. All that sound equipment has to be reserved ahead of time. The same goes for an interpreter.”

Were there ASL interpreters at #HandsOff? No. Not for lack of trying, but frustrating nonetheless. Were deaf and disabled people mentioned at all when speakers and posters talked about issues? Also no. Except for a one time tiny, small mention of special needs children, no.

In 1993, alt text was created to load in the place of the image. Either because someone was using a text-based browser or there was too much lag or the image never loaded at all. The text entered into the alt attribute loads for the user in the place of the image.

Not sure how much you know about HTML so I don't want to come across as a jerk. Just there are basics. So the "alt" attribute only works on a few tags and they all have to have images. This is because that's the whole point of alt text since 1993.

It's because it's not real and doesn't work. "Alt" is an attribute only for images and doesn't work on video. They made something up and kludged it together.

Hi, I have a question for the hearing people.

My Apple Watch just gave me a volume warning for the shower, telling me it was over 90 decibels and could cause temporary hearing loss (too late for that, haha) so I must ask...

I just learned that Bluesky has ALT Text for video. Is this the first time that I am ever seeing ALT Text for VIDEO?? 😯
March 28, 2025 at 3:03 AM
THIS IS NOT A DRILL! And this is not happening on all videos, but I made my own unlisted video to test it out and there were commas and periods! Things were capitalized! I’m still trying to find some official news on it.

Every time a hearing person uses the "falls on deaf ears" phrase, I'm gonna pipe in with the fact that, no, deaf person here knowing what they said loud and clear. 😒

Someone launched new batch of Simon’s Possessed By A Deaf Demon shirts/merch. If you’d like to honor the late boy, I don’t care if you’re deaf or hearing, you want a shirt or hoodie from this specific batch (but you really can buy at any time), you have until March 22!

Either my deaf accent has gotten worse, my audio tools have gotten worse, or Premiere Pro's auto captions have gotten worse because goodness gracious, the amount of mistakes I have to fix...
