River users will now be fully funding the responses to their river activities. & the general public which do not use the river corridor, will no longer have their tax dollars paying for an activity in which they do not participate.

95% of the funding from these fees goes directly back to the recreational river community to serve their needs along the river.
The remaining 5% goes to the administrative support of mitigation, monitoring, emergency response, & river patrol.

A program that hasn't adjusted Non-commercial river charges in 26 years. The level of management
required to meet the standards set by the Colorado River Management
Plan (CRMP) require a level of fiscal output that is unsustainable under the current charging structure.

I'm a firm believer of equitable access to public lands, but opposed to blatant entitlement. it's no secret that private boaters haven't paid their fair share in supporting the Grand Canyon river program, while enjoying all the benefits- of which are many.

having already floated the Grand multiple times-often doing multiple trips on other rivers annually. other rivers annually. Likely the same group of people complaining there aren't enough permits… So I question the authenticity ol protesting the fee coming too cost
prohibitive.

Consider the point of view, that paying anywhere from $4-$12 extra dollars a day for the privilege/ access/management of a globally rare experience is a bargain.
As a private boater, let's face it. The majority of private boaters opposing a fee increase are repeat-customers…

Take a look at the numbers. In 2018, Grand Canyon commercial users paid $5.5 million to the National Park Service and private users paid $686,500. Meaning that commercial receipts for Grand Canyon river trips in 2018 represented 89% of total 2018 revenues on that river.

Recently the news hit the private boating community that NPS is weighing a fee increase for non-commercial boaters, and the response has been cringe
