Airway immunometabolic responses during pulmonary bacterial and viral infections
Wadhwa et al. examine how respiratory bacterial and viral pathogens exploit host metabolism to evade immune responses and influence disease outcomes. They underscore the need for deeper insight into i...

Really pleased to see this study led by @raymondkiu.bsky.social now published in @natcomms.nature.com!

We show that probiotics help modulate the preterm infant 👶#microbiome - to reduce ARGs, lower MDR bacteria 🦠 & increase beneficial Bifido ✨

Huge team effort!

How does S. aureus turn a toxic metabolite into a survival tool? Rutgers-led research shows its enzyme FumC converts fumarate into fuel for growth, biofilm, & virulence—opening doors for new anti-pneumonia drugs. go.njmicrobe.org/8MQv9B #Microbiology #Pathogenesis #StaphAureus #AntimicrobialTargets
How Staphylococcus aureus Exploits a Host Metabolite to Cause Pneumonia
Staphylococcus aureus is a formidable foe in healthcare settings, a leading cause of pneumonia that contributes significantly to illness and death worldwide. This ubiquitous bacterium, a common coloni...

Grateful to be a co-author on the study showing how fumarate metabolism by host and pathogen promotes pneumonia. Itaconate synergises with fumarate and drives staphylococcal adaptation.👇

🚨New Preprint Alert!
Delighted to have been a small part of the study showing the role of fumarate metabolism in host and pathogen contributes to pneumonia infection.

Great work showcasing acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACC1) as a metabolic checkpoint in Treg biology. Increased acetyl-CoA levels drive increasing histone acetylation at the Foxp3. Under inflammatory conditions, fatty acid inhibition promotes the induction and long-term stability of Tregs.
New Paper alert! 🚨
In a collaborative project, Luciana Berod's group at the Institute for Molecular Medicine uncovered new findings highlighting the powerful link between #metabolism & #immune_function. This breakthrough could open new doors for immune regulation & therapy!
