Back to my roots last night at Liverpool Empire with our cultural partner, English National Ballet (ENB). Enjoyable gala performance and evening with our Dance for Parkinson’s team, led by Dr Sarah Black-Frizell, Head of Dance at LHU, and Fleur Derbyshire-Fox, ENB Director of Engagement.

Delighted to join university Hon Fellow Revd Canon Dr Rod Garner at the Liverpool Philharmonic in presenting a cheque in support of Love Music: From the First Note. The funds have been generously donated by Rod from the royalties of his latest book: Reappraisals: Lives Less Ordinary.

An honour to represent the university at the Josephine Butler Trust annual commemoration at Liverpool Cathedral. Josephine Butler born 1828 was a tour de force in championing those marginalised in society through a radical Christian approach.

Marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz Birkenau, a Nazi Concentration Camp that contributed significantly to the Holocaust. I visited there in the last year to pay my respects. We are all encouraged to visit, to see, to learn, to understand and continue to tell this history.

This week, it was such a pleasure to host a talk with leading curators from our partner organisation Tate Liverpool. Kate Haselden and Carine Harmand came to give a talk to Humanities students. It was extremely interesting and inspiring!
