Cycling event with a love of NE Scotland ...but prepared to delve gently into other things too!
Was rather sad when he announced about 5 yrs ago that he had always been gay but of generation that couldn't be open.

On the other hand when the story came out I was very pleasantly surprised to be reminded that he was still with us (which surprised me more than the above news)! RIP

A real icon of Scottish entertainment

It's very sad ...a real icon. Things do always change and we are seeing the modern version. We don't have an abundance of venues BUT do have one massive one drawing people outta the city ...once Aberdeen creates/funds purpose built mega structures with car parking, everyone else is in trouble 😢

Maybe it's been a war with few winners and an awful lot of bull$hit rhetoric on all sides? Just a thought!!

* would be worth defining/redefining what we mean by 'first language' ...suspect many of 28.8% use one language with parents (marginal teenage communication interest!) and speak another at school, to their friends, typing on Instagram, watching youtube ...90% of communication in the 2nd language?!

Not busy enough to be one of their '50p a pint nights' in 1986/87 ish (when pints elsewhere were about £1.50). Walk in (45 mins), walk home (60 mins), 5 pints and a couple of butteries out the back door of the bakery at 3am ...total night cost = £3. Up and out for school at 8am the next day!

I've a memory from EE/P&J cinema ads as a youngster in 70s of 'adult ' films showing at ABC ...but might be false memory! Seems bizarre!

Having been in toon on Thur and Fri evenings last week (check me!!) the key issue might be 'there's naebdy there'

I saw Casablanca at The Capitol (they ran old classics in late 80s)

Can't say I really know. You would think it must be tough. Google says 2024 cinema admissions in uk were up 2.3% on 2023.

I'm reluctant to revert too quickly to "its same everywhere" as Aberdeen has used that line too readily when it comes to our problems.

Saved by goalkeeper on the line = on target. Saved by defender on the line = not on target? Who knew? (Well you did)!
