Cycling event with a love of NE Scotland ...but prepared to delve gently into other things too!
Local news to get your teeth into!

8 of 12 3rd placed teams go through!

If 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 beat 🇭🇹 (not specialist subject beating wee guys) and not be hammered by 🇲🇦 (again history not on our side), we could play 🇧🇷 with them already having 2 wins and happy with 0-0 for us both to qualify (exactly like Italia 90 😬)

That's all cause for optimism!

Despite the Denmark game, it is hard to break out of the fatalist pessimism of being a Scotland fan. The min Morocco go in with Brazil you think 'that's our group'

Terrible draw

And that's before the balls are out!

Its a bit Sam Fox and Mick Fleetwood

Ride the North in 2026: What’s Happening??

Been working on it! Takes longer than you’d think! However, things are now just about in place and we're almost ready to make both big announcements at the same time.

Announcements will be posted here and on the event website at 12 on 12/12

Both????👀

Desperate!

It does now look not surprising as we do have 3 cinemas in 1km and are creating a 4th ...and in Aberdeen the one with neither the car park nor the public money is the weakest link. But im quite upset to see it go 😔

There are just too many 'days' being promoted by the marketing depts ...

How about we merge Black Friday & April Fools Day ...loads of deals but turns out that all you get is repackaged crap that was never remotely worth what it was supposed to be reduced from!

Is the initiative still going where Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce buy a one-way ticket out for anyone in the city that gets caught complaining?

Watched the Kenny Dalglish (Amazon) documentary. It was good. Flashed through his Celtic years a bit rapidly and bizarrely didn't really mention record breaking Scotland career. The Hillsborough stuff is excellent/emotional

First Dons game since football became beautiful again. So excited! 🇦🇹

Just come back from a South American holiday ...on return, most immediate difference on evening walking in city was not 'it's so cold' and much more 'it's so dark'. The sun sets at 1800 hrs in darkest Peru BUT level of city/city centre street lighting was far better. Turn the lights up Scotland!
🚦 It’s Road Safety Week, and like many of you, we’ve been thinking about what it feels like to move through our cities, whether that's walking kids to school, cycling to work, or just trying to cross the road.
Too big for our streets: the harms of SUV use in Scottish cities - Transform Scotland
Professor of Transport & Health at Napier University, Dr Adrian Davis, writes for Transform Scotland. “SUVs are now one of the biggest emerging threats to road safety in Scottish cities.”...

My sons aren't massive football fans but, alongside fitba fan mates, they've committed to two matches this year ...supporting Aberdeen v Celtic at the Scottish Cup final then Scotland v Denmark in the WC qualification decider

Taken them 20+ years to see that it's always like this!!

Advantages of an old granite house during a NE Scotland winter #213 ...you forget to put the butter back in the fridge, but it remains the exact same degree of solidity regardless 🥶

Three cars in the car park to reflect fact that this really is a move that favours walking to the local shop? Or maybe the excellent public transport links?

I've got some experience of attaching things to lampposts via zip ties (with Council permission). I've left signs up 24 hrs after event and had them removed/binned by the Council.

We could just have consistent rules that are applied consistently!

In a weekend of unacceptable, unsporting crowd behaviour, hope a few golf fans took a moment to tune into cycling World Champs in Rwanda. Absolutely incredible crowds cheering every rider. Heart warming love of the sport 🇷🇼
