I wrote about how and why social media has largely become boring and why it's a bad idea to eat your own brain: www.forkingpaths.co/p/is-social-...
Is social media just...boring now?
Social media is destroying democracy and accelerating idiocracy. But it's also just...really, really boring.

I hope it‘ll be more than two weeks, and also no time soon!

If you’re getting an Undefined array key "Total" error in my Storyblok package update to 2.50.1. The API response changed. Investigating why but this will keep it working for you for now.

As an experiment, we (the Firefox team) wanted to try a new way to get feedback on which Interop proposals matter most.

So, here's a web app where you can rank the proposals you care about, giving us data we can use when reviewing which ones to champion.

Another day, another release! 🚀

After a chat with a user on Discord Laravel Storyblok 2.50.0 allows you to override the Field classes. Simply make a Class in \App\Storyblok\Fields\Defaults\... matching the name of the field to override and it’ll be used!

Whoops! This broke caching your config. Instead you need to load the extensions with a service provider. If you only want the default Storyblok extension then skip this step and the package will handle it for you.

I’ve just released Laravel Storyblok 2.48. This release allows configuring @tiptap.dev extensions and includes a
extension that replaces the default tag one and includes transformations via the image service!

Either ChatGPT is in denial or it’s becoming very lazy. I asked it a question, it got the answer wrong. I asked in to check again, it apologised. Then it gave the wrong answer again and repeated the exact same response, when questioned, five times! It’s really frustrating and so broken at times.

The email everyone wants to receive.

I guess I’ll wait until their team remembers to test before deployment then...

It’s still less annoying than dealing with the AI powered support though, things only started progressing when I coaxed a human into helping.

I just updated my @storyblok.com Laravel CLI to introduce merging component fields. The way it works is you create a JSON file of just the new/updated fields you want and run the command specifying the Block to update.

artisan ls:merge-component block_name changes.json

I just need to say I love CSS grid. It might not be the sexiest part of the web platform but it has to be one of the most beautiful and foundational to modern layouts. It could do with a few additions but it’s something I’d greatly miss if it disappeared.

I’ve been working on a new @storyblok.com plugin (well, technically a reworking of an earlier idea) that loads a folder of SVG symbols from your website and displays them in a custom field for selection and colouring. It returns an ID and colour name ready for the tag!

I enjoy nothing more than animating SVGs. Give each character its own length timeline and you avoid everything looping at the same rate. Makes recording a looped video for sharing impossible though!

What the product actually does: talk to your loved ones for you so that you can focus on your menial chores

As a @storyblok.com Ambassador I know I need to say nice things about them, but the love might be very real. I can’t write the ‘story’ without my fingers automatically adding blok to the end.

A CMS shouldn’t make me feel this way. 😅

If you’re using SVG clip-paths for masking with CSS then this tool is a wonder! It’ll convert a path to decimal units meaning it can be used responsively (and responsibly) with clipPathUnits="objectBoundingBox" on the tag.

Love it!
