Hardly the most critical thing but seeing Google incorrectly say Van Dijk scored an own goal (he scored in the correct net but it was first reported to be an own goal by a Sunderland player) hardly gives me confidence is AI. If it gets this easy thing wrong how many complex things does it get wrong?

I miss all the websites covered in gifs, 100 different typographic styles, playing a midi file. They weren't beautiful, they weren't particularly technically competent, but they were a labour of love by someone who wanted to share something honest about themselves.

I had a similar problem on client websites, although admittedly a fair proportion of the traffic was bots scanning for WordPress vulnerabilities etc. I don't use WordPress but it hit my CMS API to see if the URLs exist. AI crawlers have just made this worse by crawling actual URLs.

I got an accessibility nightmare. I like the Forged in Europe box too. I’m not anti-anywhere but feel it’s important to have a lot of strong centres of innovation and privacy. I recently moved our client hosting into the EU for exactly the reasons @dbushell.com mentions.

... which is funny because my professional profile @riclep.dev is floating off in the wrong direction. I followed too many SEO people to understand their dark arts. But as a Web dev and designer I really appreciate the work and beauty in Bluesky map.

I'm definitely an imposter, simply listening quietly to those more intelligent. My professional community is right to the north though, hi web development...

Such a beautiful meowkin!

It needs to be inside a cardboard box, then it's guaranteed to be used! I'd settle for the lap cat though. 😻

Reminds me of an old website locally where all the <a> tags used onclick and not href. It wasn't like the main event booking site for the island or anything...

I really like this, going to be so useful. However I’m not sure about the ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ naming, scrolled: bottom; sounds like you reached the bottom, not scroll towards the bottom as ‘bottom’ is a destination not a direction.

If I continue moving my mouse as I release the button then it works. If I stop moving and release the button it doesn’t.

When senior/skilled people retire, those with the domain knowledge, and no one below them has needed to learn the details, or those jobs simply don't exist, then do we become stuck or totally reliant on AI?
November 30, 2025 at 6:05 PM
I've been thinking about this a lot and the long term effects it may have, not just in writing code but generally. If AI is being used by senior developers as a 'junior' to support them and juniors are not being train and gaining experience, are we creating a long term knowledge gap?

Saw one of these ads this week on an article and stopped reading assuming it was pay walled content.

I wrote about how and why social media has largely become boring and why it's a bad idea to eat your own brain: www.forkingpaths.co/p/is-social-...
Is social media just...boring now?
Social media is destroying democracy and accelerating idiocracy. But it's also just...really, really boring.

2.46.2. for the older branch

If you’re getting an Undefined array key "Total" error in my Storyblok package update to 2.50.1. The API response changed. Investigating why but this will keep it working for you for now.

As an experiment, we (the Firefox team) wanted to try a new way to get feedback on which Interop proposals matter most.

So, here's a web app where you can rank the proposals you care about, giving us data we can use when reviewing which ones to champion.

Another day, another release! 🚀

After a chat with a user on Discord Laravel Storyblok 2.50.0 allows you to override the Field classes. Simply make a Class in \App\Storyblok\Fields\Defaults\... matching the name of the field to override and it’ll be used!

Whoops! This broke caching your config. Instead you need to load the extensions with a service provider. If you only want the default Storyblok extension then skip this step and the package will handle it for you.
