As someone who teaches high schoolers US History, we were talking about gerrymandering/red-lining etc and I used the term cracking for how black voter power is diluted and that was when I was informed that cracking is GenZ/Alpha slang for sex. So I concur with this

"...I didn't think much of it, but then my wife and I, we were expecting our first child, and then, unfortunately, we had a miscarriage. The impact of Dobbs all of a sudden became very real to us."

These people are so devoid of empathy or imagination. Not until it directly affects them.....

I started teaching 7th grade in 2016-17, my first two years of teaching i couldnt figure out how kids were confusing words like disguise and distinguish etc. Then, the first year I taught students who'd had science of reading based instruction in 2nd/3rd grade, it was insane how clear the diff was.

Its actually a large part of the "Mississippi miracle" where the state reading scores skyrocketed. Obviously there's a lot of other parts to the 2013 law that redid statewide reading curricula, but at its core was a reversion to science of reading/phonics based instruction.

Seconded. I teach history now but taught 7th grade english here in Mississippi for several years. The Mississippi miracle (reading improvement) was bc we passed a state law that functionally banned three-cueing/whole language in favor of phonetics/science of reading. The difference is amazing

Its like Pierce in Community when his dad died.

"You're dead and I'm not so suck it."

"Dude just told his dead dad to suck it."

I assume its because 1) the stories that leaked about him giving the negotiations his blessing and 2) that the people who voted for it all are either retiring or not up til '28 or '30
