This is great. If you’re going to try and scam me, it would be good to spell my name right, and don’t forget to insert the [specific moment] in the text. 😂

Yes, indeedy. I wonder what they’re referring to?

I love Vancouver. We’d never walked this particular dike in Pitt Meadows. Gorgeous day.

If you want a mac, but think they’re too expensive, I replaced my 2015 Macbook with a refurb 2024 Mac Mini for under $700 Canuck. I had a monitor and keyboard. Just about fell over when I saw the price. Not a laptop, but I have my iPad for mobile. (Works as a second monitor, too.) It’s so small.

Saw this cute little guy while we were walking by the river in Keremeos. Maybe a baby rattler, or a baby gopher/bull snake.

I’ve always loved historical atlases. I’m a map nerd. (Us fantasy tours often are.) A friend alerted me to this one, and I couldn’t help myself, and bought it. It’s gorgeous, and unlike most of the old historical atlases I read when I was young, it’s not entirely European centric.

So it begins — making my own longbow. Following some excellent instructions, it’s actually kind of simple. And a lot cheaper than my recurve was.

There’s something so utterly fantasy about a path leading through a tunnel of trees. Deas Island Park, Delta, BC.

Flowers and a butterfly outside the house. A little beauty in a not so great world.

Sad day when the last drops of the good stuff go. Our Lady of the Cask, Canadian brandy. Been nursing this since September.

Decided to do a box set of books 1-3 in my second series. Pretty happy with how this cover turned out. buybooks.rickwaughauthor.com/wk9o7x73gb

Got to attend the launch of my critique buddy @askaufman.bsky.social’s book, The Traitor of Sherwood Forest. Looking forward to reading the published copy to see the final version of what was already a great book. Want dark historical fiction, written by someone with creds? Check it out.

I roughed this out of a piece of mahogany in my 20s, when wood like that was cheap. Dragged it around for a few decades. Finally finished it 11 years ago. 13 coats of truoil to get that finish, but, it’s a beauty guitar. 🎸

Kobo has a subscription service for books, and if you read a lot, it's a deal. Unlike Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, Kobo doesn't force indie authors to be exclusive. Free trial available. If you want to see what it looks like, check out these great fantasy books. www.kobo.com/ca/en/p/kobo...

Piper hears strange music that weaves through his own playing, affecting listeners’ emotions. His partner, Lessa has soured on their relationship; his anguish stokes the hidden magic, serving up a gig no one will forget, that smells like heresy, and a priest is there. Can it get worse? Oh yes….

The remains of a shipwreck from the 19th century. No one knows what ship it was, or whether the crew survived. Rough, rocky coast around Ucluelet, BC, and you wonder how many other ships just disappeared without anyone knowing what happened.

We’re supposed to go home from Ucluelet on Thursday. But, the highway is closed for the day. So, darn, we have to suck up this view for another day.
