In the mood for a fantasy trilogy that's not so steamy and stabby?

A minstrel and an ex-priest battle to survive in a world full of monsters. At least they have each other’s backs, right? Well….

Epic fantasy, found family, (very) slow burn romance, humor.

If you’re a fantasy writer, and every wondered how folks with modern technology might extract iron from ore, this was fascinating. Unfortunately, only in Chinese for English only speakers, but it’s pretty cool. youtu.be/7l3nQO92p_Y #fantasy

We went to the Vancouver Opera last night, a performance of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. It was fun, and funny. We go to a lot of classical concerts, mostly early music, but this was my first opera. Still processing, not sure about going to another, but glad we did. #opera #mozart

A minstrel whose music is corrupted by heretical magic. A tavern full of people who just wanted an ale, dinner, and a little music... #fantasybooks

We’ve gone totally minimalist with window coverings. What do you think? Price was excellent.

The immense pile of ‘stuff’ we took out of our china cabinet to move it for the painters. Most of this never gets used. My generation (boomer) got a lot of this from parents, and bought more, why, we’re not sure. Our children have told us they don’t want it.

The Fraser River on a beautiful February day. One of our favourite walks, and favourite views. #vancouver #mapleridge

The inside of the house is being painted, it needed it. It’s weird to have the pictures off the walls, the furniture moved into the floor, stuff piled all over. Kind of disturbing, actually. OTOH, we’re getting rid of stuff as well, so, yay, decluttering.

I went to high school in the 70s, and as a musician, all I wanted to play was progressive/classic rock. Tried to make a living. Then disco hit, and almost all live clubs here were gone in six months. Classic rock was out. And that is the reality of art as a living, in a nutshell. #creativelife

Well, I finally managed to create my new youtube banner, after much messing around. One can never have too much ready made promo stuff. Two complete series in the bag. #fantasybooks

Trying to see what other fantasy writers are doing on YouTube, as it’s another avenue for promotion. What I found was people telling everyone else how to write and market books. I’m not entirely sure anyone is actually marketing fiction. If you know someone, or are someone…let me know. #fantasybooks

Making a banner for a youtube channel is a nightmare. They give guidelines for image size — if you hit that size, only part of the image shows up; each platform has different needs. So you keep squeezing and pushing things around, regenerating, uploading, and swearing at it. 🤯🫠

Turned on the Denver/New England football game, being played in Denver. The weather went from great to pyschotic in the space of a quarter. That’s a lot of snow coming down. The game has turned into a slog. #nfl

I’ve always loved maps, and I like making them. A fantasy book without a map is like a fine dinner without wine. I make them myself in Inkarnate, which is inexpensive and simple, and I can go back and change things as my worlds grow. Ivernia, from The Gods of Chaos. #fantasybooks

This book was written in 1970. Zelazny was already popular in SF, but this really pushed him into fantasy. I bought it, then had to wait for the rest of the series. That took 21 years. But he did it. Brilliant world, magic and characters, great story arc.

Vancouver has been having a stellar tub of beautiful weather. Not that it’s never nice here in the winter but this is exceptional. On the Pitt Meadows dikes. #vancouver

Went to the Vancouver Goldeneyes game last night, (women's professional hockey, PWHL). Great game and atmosphere. 14,000+ fans, including 2,000+ girls from hockey teams in the Vancouver area there, and when the DJ played 'Pink Pony Club', they all sang along, even during play. 😂 #hockey

There are few things funnier in hockey than a goalie fight. Rare occurrence, but when it does happen, kind of looks like two copies of the Michelin man trying to reach each other over a yard of padding. 😂
