operating large dangerous machinery goes hand in hand with a strong safety culture. Not on American roads though. How did we get to this point?

actually more dangerous not to speed, because it surprises or angers other people in their cars and causes unpredictable behavior. Or the fear of losing a precious few minutes getting stuck behind the wrong car or at a red light, affecting decision making. In industry….

Yes! We desperately need a north/south bike arterial in South Seattle. The neighborhood greenway is nice but not direct to most places and way more hilly than Ranier or MLK….

This! The hilly topography Seattle’s land is not good for cars. The long rainy winter nights are not good for cars. The city was built with streetcars in mind, not personal cars, and our attempts to retrofit this city have created a crisis of safety hazards. Reduce cars and it all falls into place.

Omg, I just spent 20 minutes looking at a map trying to figure out how that commute could even exist. I feel like we need an entire article on this commute alone and why he chose this route over others. Why bike in the beginning, and not bus from west seattle? Why to Othello?!?

Hope she was wearing a helmet though!

It doesn’t feel yet like public transit is prioritized. We need more trains for events. More than just a tiny bridge getting over King Street Station from ID. Why do we need to cross numerous crosswalks and walk alongside traffic on narrow sidewalks to get to the stadium from *Stadium* station?

Bike lane definitely doesn’t look the safest… but having trouble processing that because of that huge rainbow which is stealing the show! Nice photo!

Thank you Council member Rinck for adding common sense to the conversation! Our tax dollars paid for this bus lane and infrastructure. It is an investment in our future. It is not responsible governance to dismantle it based on feedback from a stakeholders concerned about short term profits.

Good to hear that they are dynamically responding to issues as they arise. My experience on the ground was that it didn’t feel they had prepared for a big game day. I think Seattle has a group of engaged riders who especially want to use Link on game days. This is its time to shine.

Yeah. I like Sound Transit, but when they provide poor service to people on days when we need it, it doesn’t generate good will or confidence in them. especially when they want to now raise 30 billion more dollars to expand the system. World Cup is coming up. We need more from them.

Extending the Beacon Ave bike lane project south to Swift will be really important. There’s really not a great north/south bike connection that far south and it will connect nicely with Swift Ave/Myrtle and Columbian Way/Alaska to connect the western neighborhoods.

Yes there are still some rough patches, but it’s a game changer south Seattle! Now we desperately need a Georgetown connection to Swift Ave (both I5 crossings and intersections are pretty sketchy) which has great bike infrastructure and will eventually connect to the Phase 2 Beacon Ave project!

I’m glad you made an impact! In addition to knowing first aid, a simple thing that anyone can do to potentially save a life is to carry naloxone, or know where some might be nearby. It can rapidly reverse the effects of opioid overdose and buy critical time for paramedics to arrive.

Yes! I also love what Victoria is doing. , They vastly reduced their bike theft, and improved the experience of people cycling, by implementing a free and centrally located Bike Valet system.
