Getting old. And now I’m older still.

Well the weather up ‘ere in Sheffield is still pretty grotty. 😕 But at least it’s not as heavy as yesterday. Stay safe everyone.

In spite of the bit of dead grass, this is the best picture I’ve ever taken of a wren. 🙂

Taken in the aftermath of Storm Amy at 6.45 am. It may look peaceful but the wind is blowing a gale and the clouds are racing.

Sometimes, you don’t have to travel far to see wildlife. This sparrow hawk was eating its meal on my front lawn. This image is from a few years ago now.

“Adventure is out there!”
I took this picture 18 months ago. A woman had taken her two dogs for a walk in Hillsborough Park, Sheffield and was preparing to take them home on her motorbike. I asked her permission to take this image.

Taken a week ago. This young buzzard was being deliberately harassed by the crow as it had flown too close to the trees where it was nesting. In spite of the size difference the buzzard was definitely coming off worse.

But now I’m onto a bit of @benaaronovitch.bsky.social, which was a birthday gift. 🙂

I’ve just finished reading this very interesting novella by @ecatherine.com.
It was sent to me as by @locusmag.bsky.social for supporting them. Not my normal reading matter but a well written and intriguing idea of first contact. I will be seeking out more from this author.

Just want to say a quick “Thank you” to @locusmag.bsky.social for my two books that arrived safely from the USA for supporting them through their last subscription campaign. 🙂

Teeny, tiny wren. It hit one of our living room windows and stayed on the edge stunned for a while before flying off.

Swifts over my house and garden last week when there was much less rain about. They always make me smile.
