'The Little House' is brilliant, strongly recommend. And I love Minae Mizumura, especially 'A True Novel', though I've not read 'Inheritance from Mother' yet.

We had 15 years of catastrophising language on immigration under successive Tory govts. Remind me, how well did such framings work as a way to neutralise Farage/persuade the Farage curious?

That's a superb article, Daniel - beautifully written, thoughtful and really insightful on Louie's character and how his experiences have shaped him. Thanks for writing it.

The Naked Don’t Fear the Water - Mathieu Aikin.

Superb narrative non-fiction, with Aikin accompanying his former translator, Omar, as he flees the increasing violence and instability of Afghanistian for Europe.

It’s so well-written, gripping, moving and insightful.
