GROUP TOGETHER: Last month, we joined three rides around Richmond Park in one week.

The park hosts many rides throughout the year, and we have a list of some of them on our FAQs page. See link in bio.

And if you run a group ride yourself and want to be added to the list, just send us a DM.

WIGGO WAY BACK: Sir Bradley Wiggins rode through Richmond Park during the 2012 Olympic road race - and today the TdF champ returned for a couple of laps. Thanks to The Clubhouse Putney and Pedal Mafia for organising, and to Brad for making many cyclists happy on this fab ride!

TREE-MENDOUS EFFORT: The oak that collapsed outside Kingston Gate yesterday was cleared up pretty quickly!

Everything is back to normal now.

But thank you to the tree for getting rid of through traffic from Kingston Gate to Ham Cross for a few glorious hours. Nature is our friend. 🌳🌿

PEN PALS: Come to Pen Ponds car park today (Sat 24th) from 10am to 12pm to register your bike on the National Cycle Database!

🚴‍♂️Getting your bike marked makes it less attractive to thieves and increases the chances of getting it back if it is stolen and recovered by police.

SHARING IS CARING: There’s new signage on the Quietway to remind everyone that it’s a shared space.

Watch your speed on the path. Give way to children, walkers and learner cyclists who frequent this mostly car-free area.

Thank you to The Royal Parks for these helpful signs.

UNLUCKY FOR SOME: The Royal Parks has cancelled the Richmond Park Time Trials on June 23 and July 7 following the recent hostile media coverage of the inquest into the pedestrian fatality in Regent’s Park.

NOT SO FAST: Was speed really the key issue in the pedestrian fatality in Regent’s Park? With The Royal Parks now under pressure to review cycling policies across its estate, including Richmond Park, we look at the facts in this month’s bulletin, out today. Subscribe - 🔗 in bio!

FREE AND EASY: 📢Get your bike registered on the police’s national database TODAY (Sat 17) at Pen Ponds car park between 11am and 1.30pm! 📢 The service is free, and it discourages thieves. And if your bike does get nicked, security marking increases the chances of it being returned to you.

CRASH BARRIER: A woman was injured last Sunday (February 4) while cycling on Beverley Brook Bridge at around 9am. She landed on her hip after misjudging the plastic barrier and was taken to Kingston Hospital, where she was fitted with a steel plate and pins in her femur. (1/2)

MIND THE GAP: Watch out for this hazard if you are cycling on the westbound shared use path alongside the A3 while the park is closed at night for the deer cull. The thin gap next to the slip road that leads to Asda’s car park is roughly the width of a road bike tyre - making it easy to ride into.
February 8, 2024 at 1:00 AM
FIRST THINGS FIRST: It’s February 1 – which means the park will be completely closed from 8pm tonight as the biannual deer cull begins. Full details on our website⬇️

MARKING TIME: A FREE police bike marking event is taking place TODAY (Sat 27) outside the Roehampton Gate cafe from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Getting your bike marked discourages thieves and, in the event of theft, increases the chance of your pride and joy being returned to you if the police recover it.
January 27, 2024 at 8:30 AM
WON DIRECTION: In a victory for the Friends of Kingston Gate, a one-way system will be trialled for 18 months on two busy roads. From Jan 29, motorists will only be able to drive from west to east on King’s Road - but it will still be two-way for cyclists. New Road will be one-way east to west.
January 23, 2024 at 7:34 PM
GETTING A GRIP: Last winter, salt spread on the park’s roads to prevent ice attracted moisture - which, combined with dust & spilt fuel, created a slippery surface. This year The Royal Parks has used a different type of salt to alleviate the issue. Nevertheless, please take care in cold conditions.

MARKING TIME: There's another bike marking event today (Saturday) at Roehampton Gate from 2pm until 4.30pm. Deter thieves and increase the chance of your pride and joy being returned to you if it gets stolen by getting it on the national database. And it’s FREE!

YOU WOODEN BELIEVE IT: Someone has smashed into the posts by Roehampton Gate. You can still cycle through the wooden gate as normal.

It’s thought that a lorry driver went into the turning at the wrong angle - but that’s just a theory as they didn’t hang around and no witnesses have come forward.
